What To Do When Your Vape Won't Charge

Introduction

Having a vape pen not charge properly can be extremely frustrating. Having a dead vape in any scenario is very annoying but if you can’t even charge it then it is essentially worthless. There are plenty of different kinds of vape pens but rechargeable vape pens are becoming more and more popular with stoners. Likely if you’re reading this then your vape pen won’t charge and we want to fix that issue for you. Keep reading for some helpful tips and solutions to this problem so you can get back out there and have a nice high. Remember though. If you can't fix it. Just pick up a bong, or a hand pipe and call it good! Heck, you could always just use some rolling papers.

What Are the Different Kinds of Vapes

  1. Vape Mods

Vape mods are large devices that have refillable chambers that you fill with vape juice or e-liquid. Most vape mods have micro-USB ports that are used for charging. These can be fickle but usually are consistent. There are also mod vapes with removable batteries. These are very consistent and usually don’t break but are more expensive because you have to purchase batteries separately.

  1. Rechargeable Vape Pens

Rechargeable vape pens are pretty similar to vape mods with a few key differences. The main difference here is that while you fill a vape mod with juice from a bottle separately, rechargeable vape pens usually have individual cartridges that you switch out when they are empty. Rechargeable vape pens do not have removable batteries and usually have a specific charger for each device.

  1. Disposable Vape Pens

Disposable vape pens do not charge ever. They aren’t designed to be used after their initial battery life and feature no external charging port. There is a variety of length on the batteries of these devices but usually are between 500-2000 hits. It is possible to charge a disposable vape by taking it apart and manually charging it but that can be dangerous and usually doesn’t work well.

Anatomy of a Rechargeable Vape Pen

There are a few parts of a rechargeable vape pen that are important to know before we tell you how to fix them. Almost all rechargeable vape devices will have these features or at least something akin to them. The first part is of course the battery. Most rechargeable vape devices come with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that will in turn heat up your atomizer. An atomizer is the small heating element that heats up the juice or the chamber around it so it can vaporize and you can use the device. The charging port is usually a simple external plug in port like a micro-USB or a USB-C. There are a few vape devices on the market with other kinds of chargers but these are by far your most common charging ports. The last part is the sensors or buttons. Most vape devices have sensors that will initiate the heating process when you try to take a hit. There are also sensors that tell you how much battery you have left and some that can even

customize how harsh the hits will be or how much nicotine you will be inhaling. Now that you have the basic parts of a rechargeable vapes down, we can move onto how to fix your charging issue.

Vape Pen Won’t Charge?

1- Verify that the vape itself is the problem

The most important step in this whole process is knowing that the vape pen is the actual issue. Make sure you try multiple chargers and try to unplug and replug them in. If you’re reading the article I hope you’ve already taken this step but if not change the charger you are using and see if that works. Also make you try different outlets in your apartment or home to make sure it's not an electricity issue from the wall.

2- Try An External Battery Charger

If you suspect that the micro-usb or the usb-c connection is the main issue then you can try to charge the batteries without it. All you have to do is take the batteries out and place them in an external battery charger. Using an external battery charger will bypass the need for the micro-usb connection and can make your life a whole lot easier. Over time micro-usb connections are bound to get worn out and stop working but if you use this method you won’t have to throw the whole thing out.

3- Replace your Mod’s Batteries

If you’re sure that it's not that cord connection and the recharging of the batteries won’t work then your batteries might just be too old to work. If you’ve never switched the batteries and they aren’t working then this is a sign to get some new batteries. You can probably find batteries at your local vape shop or online. Make sure the batteries you get are the ones you need for your mod or else you’ll just be wasting your money.

4- Adjust the Vape’s Connection Plate

The batteries might be working fine but you never know if the connection between the batteries and the ignition plate is even working. If you see one of the indicator lights come on but you aren’t getting any draw then its most likely the connection plate. If you open up your vape you should find a small circular plate. Gently try to reconnect the plate with the batteries and make sure they are touching before you close it back up.

5- Get Out Your Soldering Iron

This is the last thing you should be doing before giving up. It can be a bit dangerous but if you’re handy with a soldering iron then it shouldn’t be too hard. If you suspect that the issue is a wiring issue and that because the wires are connected, the vape won’t hit, then soldering them back together can fit your issue. This takes a lot of precision and care disassembly of your vape but it might just do the trick

7- Get A New Vape

If all else fails, you can always get a new vape. Nobody wants to have to do that but on the bright side you’ll have a brand new vape to look forward to and show to everyone you know.

Conclusion

A vape that won’t charge or won’t hit can be incredibly frustrating especially when you’re looking for a good buzz. There are plenty of different reasons why your vape might not be working but if you’ve tried all the steps we’ve laid out in this article and it still doesn’t work then just go out there and get a new vape. Wait for your next paycheck and then go be adventurous and try something you’ve never tried before!
